I had to go see a doctor in Rockford and came back via, "the scenic route". All of these are from a Canon dRebel XT with a Sigma 18-50mm f2.8.

The first is an interesting house I saw. Not a great photo, just an unusual house design.

Finally, the Courthouse in Oregon, IL. Construction was all around the building. This shot from the rear was as good as it got.

Hi, Ziggy, where is Rockford. My son lives in Antioch, up near Wisconsin. I remember horses on scenic "back to the house" drives with him.

I love the white house, we have houses that look like that. They are supposed to withstand hurricanes. Architecture can be interesting can't it.

That old Courthouse is quite cool! And it is sooooo Illinois/Indiana style. IMO.
Good photos of this stuff.

Thanks for sharing it.

Hi Ziggy, I noticed your up around by Rockford, IL. Have you ever been to the Anderson Japanese Gardens? http://www.andersongardens.org/ in Rockford?

I live up in Huntley and I'm trying to find places in the upper north west IL to shoot, so I'm currently trying to locate some scenic areas that is a closer drive nearer to home than driving into Chicago with all the summer traffic, construction yuck.

Ziggy,
I grew up in a Dome house similar to this that my parents built. It's almost a Southern California landmark since it is located along the highway between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. :D

These are extremely energy efficient homes, the cupola at the top is designed to let the rising hot air out so that the house stays cool in the summer. It's also very stable in earthquake prone areas.

Growing up I was always known as "the girl who lives in the round house" and we always had people stopping by to look at the house. My mom would take perfect strangers for a complete tour and show them the photo albums of the building construstion.

Thanks for sharing the photo and bringing back some nice memories for me. :clap

Wow thank you so much for sharing these, they bring back MANY a memory from when I lived in Naperville and had to go out to NIU now and then....it has been years since I have seen these structures! That first shot really brought back memories! I always wondered what the history was behind that place...I was just BARLEY getting in to photography the first time I ever saw it and never thought of taking a shot of it...nowadays I surely would! :) Thanks again!
