Customizing Captions

In the captions of the photos on my site, I like to give credit to the photographer if the picture was not taken by me. I would like to set the credit appart from the actual caption text though, by formatting it differently (e.g. italics, color, font, etc.) Obviously, I can easily accomplish this with in-line HTML, using the <font> tag. But, I'd prefer more global control.

Can any of you customization experts tell me if there is a way to create a new style in my style sheet section that I can referrence and use to overide the default caption style for selected characters in individual photo captions? Some sample code would be much appreciated.
