Help Shooting time lapse rocket launch

I am new to this world - I have a Nikon D40X with a 18- 200 lens

I want to shoot a time lapse of the rocket launch tonight from the Causeway(West of the Port) to night

Have tripod - have remote release -

Question is Set on manual - what settings should I use?

F stop - how long should the lens be open -

I only have one shot at this and I don't want to over expose
