First time I've tried this- stick finger out at insect and sometimes they will land on it. Makes taking a pic a bit hard though.

OK, we know your good but this is getting crazy. Next thing you know you'll be asking them for certain poses "Could you tilt your head a little to the left please?"http://dgrin.com/images/smilies/yelrotflmao.gifhttp://dgrin.com/images/smilies/xzicon_smile_cool.gifhttp://dgrin.com/images/smilies/xzicon_smile_cool.gifhttp://dgrin.com/images/smilies/icon10.gifhttp://dgrin.com/images/smilies/lol8.gifhttp://dgrin.com/images/smilies/lol8.gif:rofl

Good catch Thomas- Looks as if it is a similar dragonfly- one of the medium sized Sympetrum darter family. They seem a lot tamer than the bigger Hawker types (I have trouble getting near them at all).

WOW!! Great shot!! What do you dip your finger in, to entice a dragon fly? :scratchNot sure what Thomas did but I just gently stuck my finger under the dragonflies nose it lifted off and then landed on my finger. I did do a trial run without the camera first to see if they would do it. With this dragon fly I walked halfway up my garden with it on my finger before it flew off.

impressive indeed! :huh

Very still hands (or should I say hand) as well...

Good News!

I'll bet that you both have very healthy blood pressure..and that you drink 'alcohol' in moderation.

..hence the still hand!

Just about spot on on the diagnosis. Mind you I drink a lot of coffee which I would have thought might induce tremors.

You guys just keep upping the ante. Great shots. Next, I expect a bug circus with different bugs all doing acts within a single shot:oogle:oogle.

Thanks to both of you for sharing your finger shots,
Chris

Sure will for a start. I got a laugh out of this (Jimmy Durante came to mind with these beetles).

Thanks,

Join on it as it's the only way to learn. My shots don't come close to theirs, but I think I'm getting better. Let's see what your area has to offer; they don't have to be bugs. I started with minerals and speaking of that, I need to get back into shooting them.

Join the fun:rofl,
Chris

Brian V.I'm not sure exactly, but I basically just stuck my finger next to him and he climbed on for some reason. Others seem to be much more timid.

Here is a shot demonstrating how to properly pose a Dragonfly :rofl .
