How to customize?

I only just found out about all this customizing stuff when smugmug was down yesterday and I clicked through on these discussions. It sounded so good I wanted to have a go.

So then it took me ages to figure out that you have to be a power user to do this. I would presume that standard users are a significant userbase and yet they clicked through to read about a load of stuff they can't do... Hmmm... I saw nothing about needing to be a Power User until someone posted about it way into the threads.

So anyway, I figured that out and decided that it must be that the customizing information (how to) was hidden from my login because I wasn't a power user. So I upgraded to a Power User. I hope the SM team like that they made a little bit of money out of their recent mammoth efforts! :D

So now I want to customize but I can't find *anywhere* that actually says how to do this. Believe me I have searched high and low. Upgrading to power user didn't make some magic link appear for me. :scratch

I know stylesheets and HTML, at least to some extent. But what do I do to start using them? Where do I copy the code? How do I know what to write? Where are the tutorials etc?! :scratch:dunno

I am hoping someone can point me to the elusive links. Thank you in anticipation!

Well I guess maybe there was a delay in upgrading me even though it implied it had been done instantaneously after I clicked the upgrade button... Because I just looked at the control panel again and I finally have a 'customize' link. So now I at least know where to go. Seems like it is now a case of learning from others as the tutorial I was pointed to in the help is pretty basic.
