Uploading problems today

I'm fairly new on SM but I've had no problems uploading until today. I sent up about 60 files scanned from one single folder, all the same kind of jpeg. I then got a message saying 19 had had errors. I worked out which were missing and uploaded them again. This time only around half had uploaded again. Try again with the remaning 9 and four arrive with one flagged as having an error. I'm getting there eventually but is this normal ? I only have a 56kb dial-up by the way and I'm sending fairly large files I guess, resized to 1500 on the longest side and saved at quality 8 on PSE.

Welcome to D/grin & S/mug goodoldphil. I had similar problems & now use "Send to Smugmug" with great results. Lots of loaders here. (http://www.smugmug.com/hack/hacks-apps)

I read your post & decided to see if i could send some jpegs. Just sent 20 with 'Send to Smugmug'

Hope all clears for you guys soon. Hmmm...I just had a problem with the beta uploader, which I had used successfully several times before. It quit after uploading 30 of 40 MB. I was mucking around with Ben's Google map gallery when the problem occurred and I just assumed that it was a Java problem. I know what I am like after too much coffee. :): Anyway, I am in the middle of trying again and will report.

What seemed to work for me (twice now), was after creating a new gallery to look in any other of my galleries, then go back to the new gallery and add the pics.

i tried new galleries, new pics, less pics, old pics :rofl i suspect it's something to do with the update yesterday, i have reported it so we'll see ( i suspect more people will be reporting it as America wakes up)

I also had problems doing the kind of upload that ordinarily goes very smoothly in smugmug... 6 jpeg photos to an existing gallery. "We received no files" was the message after the usual (but longer) "Your photos are being loaded." Tried several times, went away and came back, tried again. No luck. Same hang-up. Could this problem be connected to yesterday's upgrade?

Anyway, I am in the middle of trying again and will report. No luck the second time. :uhoh:uhoh This time was different, though. Since I had to do something while the files were uploading, I went back to Dgrin. As soon I posted a message, the uploader blew up on a socket write error. :scratch

Anyway, I am going to try a third time, but this time I am just going to take a siesta while the upload takes place. Living in Spain has some advantages...:):

Created a gallery
uploaded some pics, 2 pics show up in the gallery and 2 more show up "processing image" (16 missing)
tried the whole upload again
no change to the gallery
tried uploading using "send to smugmug" utility
gallery still shows (2 pics show up in the gallery and 2 more show up "processing image" (16 missing)).
did not try deleting gallery and starting from scratch
gallery is http://cs-pics.smugmug.com/gallery/737676

I've been using the standalone Mac uploader since last year, but today it doesn't work. It says my JPEGs are the wrong format.

I used the "drag and drop upload" beta with the same files and that worked OK.

I finally managed to upload 30 pics to an existing gallery using the beta uploader. All present and accounted for. :):

I suspect my earlier problems were Java related and local to my machine.

Nevermind about this problem

I deleted the gallery and made a new one. Everything uploaded just fine. Maybe some sort of a corrupt gallery - never happened before and probably will never happen again. Maybe I got up too early in the morning. Maybe the harmonic convergence of the planets was off . . .:dunno

Strange - just went through the same loop again with the Mac tool and it all works fine now.

Ok...now i have problems also. sent 69 & only about 40 got there.

I've tried all the upload methods on 8/17 including the beta, sometimes they worked and sometimes they didn't. Either the image does not upload at all or it uploads but is damaged in someway (gray bars, won't display at all or is pixelated).

I have not tried today (8/18) as I am not at home. Can anyone tell me if upload is working today or not.
