This has been National and International news over the past few months. Today it finally happened (about 20 minutes away from where I am right now). Read the article and make sure you don't miss the two (2) slideshows right under the main picture.
Our society is totally unbelieveable.

I know I can't believe it. Sitting there fighting over laptops. If I had been there I woulda just gotten there early and put up signs saying the sign was somewhere else so I coulda bought as many as I wanted in peace without having to worry about getting run over by people who are gonna have a hard time using a mac anyways.

I got three before the wheel of my Hummer crushed a lady's leg and I had to scarper.
I noticed a mangled baby carrage in 1 or 2 photos. I always wonder why peope insist on trying to push a baby carrage through large and / or unruly crowds. I sure wouldn't put a child into that kind of danger. I have been hit from behind with a carrage, and it was a miracle I didn't fall over backwards and crush the kid.
By the way just how many laptops were available?

These were 4 year old iBooks! They are either the old clamshell design http://www.everymac.com/images/cpu_pictures/apple_ibook_se_2.gif or the 1st generation of the new designs...
They probably won't be able to do much with them now...talk about s-l-o-w!

The local news reported last night that they were able to easily find several on ebay later in the day yesterday. Hehehehe...

They are the "current" design - so like you say, must be first gen.

I was amazed to hear reporters saying things like "4 years old" and "retail for USD$1299
selling for USD$50" in the same sentence. Talk about misleading the public :huh
Too bad they didn't say that from a GAAP perspective, they were worthless...
