I do a lot of macro photography and am getting tired of trying to hold things in position with a jury-rigged combination of kitchen gadgets and binder clips. Without any luck, I have been looking for devices that can hold small objects in position and allow you to change the position easily. What I envisioned is something like a small tripod with clamps at the top, small enough to hold flowers and the like in a fixed position. I want something with adjustable height because I do a lot of available light work that requires raising or lowering the subject relative to a light source, but good clips are more important.

Anyone know of anything that would work?

Thanks.

Something like this would already help for smaller items:

Google flytying vise, or see for example:

Flytying equipment also includes an assortment of tools and lighting products.

I have one of those I got from radioshack. It didn't include a magnifier which I'm sure Op doesn't need. However those clips will eat through a flower stem.

In case others are interested, here is what Lord V on the macro forum suggested:

Mine should arrive soon.
