I'm looking at this kit on Adorama (http://www.adorama.com/Als/ProductPage/LTSP7.html) that has 6 reviews (all good). But I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this brand or kit??

I think I must be an odd sort....for things that are as intergal as studio flash units, I just could not consider buying something that I have no idea where to send it in 5 - 10 yrs for service. That is why I did not consider lights like flashpoing or britek when i was looking for inexpensive lights and I had used power pack lights and tripped over the cables in the studio I was doing work for, so they were out........and I was intrigued by Paul C Buff out of Nashville and his 5 yr warranties ....and the fact that he does not sell thru a retail stores............look at Alien Bees for high quality and low cost lights...........
that is just me.......Ziggy53 uses some Flashpoint lights i do believe.........................

Those are just compact fluorescent bulbs with no control over light output except for changing out the tubes with different wattage units, and they lack a continuous spectrum, meaning that color accuracy is somewhat less than ideal. They might be useful for some types of product/tabletop photography, where color accuracy is not so important, but I cannot recommend them for accurate skin tones.
I have a pair of Flashpoint II monolights (studio electronic flash)) that I really like and I've used them for portrait work with, I think, rather nice results.

Flashpoint is the Adorama house brand so we have an in-house expert. If you'd like me to put you in touch with him to discuss any issues or queries, just drop me an email.
