Just taking some pics of a small dark hoverfly ( Xylota segnis ) whilst taking the second shot noticed a movement just as I pressed the shutter, looked up and noticed another hoverfly beating a retreat. It couldn't have lasted longer than about 0.5 sec.

I'd love to know what that Shwarzenegger like rear leg muscle is for. Maybe it's for holding on in high speed boinking... :)
