ok it's definitely been a hot summer for many of us here in the u.s. in fact, tomorrow in ny it's supposed to hit 100degs f (that's like 39 for you celsius folks....)

well, my dw says "it's becuase of global warming!" and i say hmm :scratch

a quick google of course gave me way too much info but i did find this data (http://www.erh.noaa.gov/okx/climate/records/monthannualtemp.html) from nyc's central park weather station...

so: without getting into heated political debate about whether our weather is changing, and who or what is causing it, can anyone point me to some reliable sources for graphical weather data going back over time?

Global warming is certainly coming this cannot be disputed but what you are experiencing is just a blip on the radar mate. Just a rock on the mountainside.

Ps..if its any help to you andy....i only turn the air-cond on at 107f, 100f is time to take my sweater off.

Also re: global warming...National Geographic had some very sobering reading a few issues back...im sure someone could send you their copy to read.

It was perhaps the scariest thing i have ever read.

HI Andy,
Here is a rather long, but interesting reading (http://www.gcrio.org/CONSEQUENCES/winter96/geoclimate.html) on geologic temperature changes (maybe further back than you want) with graphs. This is only one side of the story and there are many counter arguments as well.

And another (http://www.globalchange.umich.edu/globalchange1/current/lectures/samson/paleoclimate/) one.

Try reading state of fear by michael crichton.....it could open your eyes to a lot of misinformation the media crams down your throat about the environment..... :thumb

"Crichton’s frank discussion of his subjective views regarding the issue of climate change provide important context for the novel itself. It’s clear that his personal opinions have shaped his portrayal of the environmental community as well as the science of climate change. That he opts out of leveling any of his criticism toward those who politicize science for the sake of dismissing climate change as a non-issue is disappointing. The one-sidedness of his novel and personal comments have actually contributed to further politicization of climate change science, enhancing a phenomenon that Crichton himself argues is ultimately dangerous. As a novelist, this is his prerogative, but the end result is a work of fiction that does little to educate while it seeks to entertain." http://www.pbs.org/now/science/climatemediaint.html

Kyoto Treaty ( as one great example to see motivations behind our countries current environmental policies ...'just follow the money!')

with all due respect, this book 'State of Fear' also Known as 'State of Confusion' is a great alternative name for this book, as one may need a graval pill or two, for you will indeed be entering a 'spin zone'!

-The amount of misinformation on todays airwaves and in its bookstores these days, is absolutely breathtaking! (pun intended)

But we're out of that now, and soon, so will N.Y.

A pic for you from a few weekends ago in Chicagoland. It got a little warm that day:

Here's one from the moon Titan that's considerably cooler at an average temp of -290ºF.

Autumn is on the way in a few weeks.

Best Regards This isnt digressing into anything political. I just wondered if you had read the book and the opinions in those links were also yours, or you just posted them to counter my position of saying I enjoyed the book and that the media feeds us a lot of misinformation about climate change.:dunno
