MTS Video Format

Hello,
I use a Sony HDR-SR5 which records in the oh so proprietary format of MTS.
I have tried using the Java uploader, and the old faithful, old faithful tries, but has been trying for over an hour now.

Is this format supported, and if not, is there a converter I can use to upload directly.
