These were taken on Grafton Street, Dublin today. It's my first attempt at street photography and it is not easy:scratch . People keep walking by, lampposts mysteriously move into the background......

anyway, some mime artists

this is Emma, from Sydney - Australia. She is a street performer who specialises in contorting her body into strange shapes.

She got into a 2' x 2' box

and was very happy when she emerged

I'm closterphobic (spell?) and that just makes me cringe. The shots are GREAT but the 2' x 2' box gives me chills. :-)

She was great craic and had a good laugh with the crowd.

Another mime artist

your shots are fun - (the box makes me cringe too!) - and shooting on the street can be quite a challenge!
For the mimes (esp. the Egyptian one) I would have liked to see all the way down to the feet. I think the ones of Emma where you capture her in her entirety are the most effective.
Keep up the good work!

Hi Burke,

I did take a full length shot of the mime artists but people got into the frames somehow:scratch . I had to crop the pics to get the people out. I'm glad you liked them.

Hey Stephen,

It is fun & completely different from any other type of photography I had tried before. The mime artists are brilliant. They only move when you give them money.

Nice series Shay. Mimes can be fun to shoot, but why do they all (most) have to be right in front of large glass windows as their backdrops. ARGHH!

Thanks for sharing these fun shots,
Chris

Hi Chris,

I didn't realise how hard it is to get a good background taking pics on the streets. As you said they were a lot of fun to shoot, I'm glad you enjoyed them.

Very nice Shay! All great captures. That 2'x2' box reminds me of my first apartment in NYC.
