Hello:

Stumbled into this forum and have been very impressed with the shots that I am seeing!! Here are a couple of my daughter Julia (my only willing subject!!)taken with my newly acquired 85L. It really is a special lens and I am smitten with the optic as well as my subject!:lust

They are very cute candids with that extra flare to make them even better. Wonderful captures and I really like the lighting on the second. Welcome to dgrin.!

Thanks for all the nice comments!! Yes, the lens is terrific and I highly recommend it to anyone that can get their hands on one......ridiculously expensive but when you see what it can do, I find it well worth the extra $!!

Yeah.....just had to pick this ID even though I really couldn't care less what camera comes out!! I have my preferred camera body and am perfectly happy with it; now new lenses are a totally different topic!!

I really like the orange color on the 2nd one...
in the background though on our right... is that a vase? It kind of drew my eye that direction! BUT love the orange and the contrast to that blonde hair!!

great shots!

Actually the thing in the background is one of Julia's wooden chairs!! The orange is in a lot of the shots because that is the colour of her room!! Thanks for the nice comments!!

I would be smitten too--besides having a wonderful and sdorable model--you have wonderful DOF and clarity. I love the softness in the first photograph.

Thanks for sharing

Wow, great shots! Did you put that border around the pics in PS?

Thanks!! The border is from a program called Extensis FrameMaker......not a plugin but stand-alone.......I just use a stock frame and tweak it until I like the look!!

Thanks a lot!! The first shot also shows that Julia had just raided the cookie jar, hence the crumbs all over her face!!

Welcome to dgrin Canon-5d. I love your images. The sharpness fading into the nice, soft background bokeh is just luscious. The 85 f1.2 L is a great lens, heavy, slow to focus, large, and expensive. But when shot wide open or at f1.4 it is superb.

The first shot was illuminated with window light I believe. What lighting was used for the second shot? It has a nice luminous quality also.

Thanks for the kind remarks!! It is a lens that I find worth its exorbitant price tag!! You are right about the 1st shot....just taken beside a window. The 2nd shot was done using my 420EX flash bounced off a white ceiling.....just wanted to see how this thing held up when using a little fill-flash.

The OLD MASTER Painters were really into something with soft window light. :thumb

It almost seemed sacreligious to put the flash on the camera when I had the 85L mounted!! :)
