It’s the first time I think about “composition” (even though it was only after the shot was taken).

To me, the most important thing with a shot like this is to get the horizon level. The focusing points in my viewfinder help a lot with this... Keep shooting! :D

I get that you wanted to capture the sky. And that you wanted something in the foreground. Unfortunately, as a composition, it doesn't work. The foreground stuff isn't very interesting or attractive and hurts the overall image.

As I learned the hard way in Yosemite, not only must every part of the image be inherently interesting, it must also make an aesthetic statement. So you need to pay as much attention to what you stick in the foreground, and how you frame it etc. as you do to capturing the lovely sky color that caught your eye in the first place.

And your horizon's off. :evil
