I will be going to the Keith Urban Concert in Houston next week. I have never been to a big concert like this and I was wondering if you all have and if you were able to take your cameras? I have a Sony a700.

If you are going as a patron you will not be able to bring in your camera. It is clearly stated on the back of the tickets. Some people do sneak stuff in but good luck... If you are assigned to the concert and have credentials the usual ground rules are only shoot the first 3 songs.

Technically you're not allowed to use your camera at most big-name concerts like this. But everybody has a camera on their cell phone these days and security usually doesn't do anything if you snap a couple of pics with your phone. I often see people use little compact cameras too. Just don't be obvious, don't use your flash, and you'll probably be fine.

Try slipping a Canon 1D series in with a big ol' white L-glass lens and it's a different story :D

In all seriousness though, consider just going to the concert and enjoying the music and performance. The quality of pics you'll get from a compact in the middle of a crowd will be pretty bad and it will distract you from the concert.

You could always try and contact Keith Urbans Management and ask for a photo pass as a Freelancer......but that needs to be done in a Minimum of 30 days prior to the event.....then after you get letter stating you have their permission let the areana management or promoter know that you will be doing this.........While asking for permission as to shoot later in the show so that his Adrenaline is flowing and you get the real emotion of the his songs...........if you already have tickets let them know you are not asking for a free ride in admittance to the show...........

A lot of times I will send a jpg photo of the ticket as an attachment with my emails.

A lot of times there will be an all access pass waiting for a lucky photog, but they usually want rights to use the files also.......so your letter needs to have a contractual aire to it.......

The more professional the better.

God Luck.

You can check the Venue Rules they all say No Cameras with detachable lens are allowed in.
Yes some are sneeks and get there SLR inside to use I have seen them get there camera / Flash Card taken away sometimes, It Depends on the artist and there rules.
I am a shooter at many Country Concerts there are some hoops you have to jump to get access. Good Luck if you get a chance to get a pass hope you get some great photos..
