Cover my entire screen with one (preferably rotating) image, and then have my text (biz name, menu options, etc.) float on top as an overlay type thing?
see here:
http://www.bing.com/
And yes, I know this http://www.moonriverphotography.com/ comes very close to what I'm saying, but if I had my druthers, I'd still like to go with a complete wallpaper job like the bing example.
Thanks, in advance, this forum is always so helpful...
Rob
PS: Also, how does one get their little logo to appear in the URL bar a la the AW in Andy's?

I am pretty sure you can do the bing homepage thing with some sort of Javascript library like Jquery or YUI, I will dig a bit more on that one.
As for the favicon, you can make the update in the Easy Customizer under Browser.

When you say wallpaper, do you mean on your desktop or on your SmugMug homepage?

Thanks, when I say wallpaper, I mean one image edge to edge and top to bottom filling the viewer's monitor.

Given that you don't have any control over the size of the browser, using a single image won't work for you since images don't stretch.
If you want to fill the available space with an image you would need to use a small image that is repeated.
I don't know if it is possible to adapt jfriend's stretchy slideshow code for a single image. You can see that customization, # 20 in the thread Collection of javascript customizations (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=135068).

See # 41 in the customization FAQ (linked in the >>> CUSTOMIZATION: Start Here <<< sticky at the head of this forum) at http://www.smugmug.com/help/customize-faq.

I (with thanks to BeachBill for guidance) successfully implemented a java-based solution using jQuery library (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=158935) (hosted @ Google) to stretch/resize a background image to fit a browser window size.
It's not 100% perfect. For example - resizing a larger background image (that is specified in my CSS) down to, say 800x600 may not work well - you'll still have a background but it will not be the whole image. But, at 800x600 with all the graphics, gallery icons, navbars, etc. the background can't be seen too well anyway.
The other problem is that Google could, at any time, stop hosting the jQuery library. But - I'll deal with that as needed.

Thanks all, will read and research further. Failing this, I think I'll try to implement something like Andy's Moon River wherein the banner and menu options are as minimal as possible while the slide show is a maxxed out as possible. Not the same "look" but close enough, I guess.
