I never post on here...just kind of linger and admire everybodys work.
I decided to try something new (for me) tonight....
For this shot I literally hung a white (wrinkled) sheet over a bookcase and snapped a few shots. The only lighting I used was an on camera sb-600. Can you tell? Processed on my laptop which is not in any way calibrated. C&C please!

On camera; yes. But you also bounced it - NICE.
But I can't figure out what lit the BG, if the 600 was your only light source, or was it PS'ed?
I honestly like the shot and seldom do I go for profiles.

yeah I did bounce the flash and did use photoshop to light the background...
It was fun...I am going to use a black sheet tonight!

Personally, I LOVE it, but I love negative space.
I have a shot a lot like this of my 6 year old for his birthday party invitations, we used the negative space to fill in all of the information - we liked it so much, we used it for our Christmas cards, this year, too!!
I would have never known you were a noobie!! Keep it up!

Really sweet!! Love the composition and her expression.
Little nit is that there is beige shadow about 1/3 of the way into the negative space from her nose that runs most of the height of the image. It's very faint, but there and I keep noticing it.

I love it! Her eye is so clear - she looks like she's lost in thought. Great shot.

Very good shot. I think the only thing that would make it better would be to make more negative space in the direction she is looking, but great shot anyways!

Beautiful picture, thanks for sharing! I love how clear and bright her eye is, and how it "dominates" the picture from my perspective, despite being a relatively small portion of the frame. Facial expression is great too.
I'd be interested to know the details of the shot (focal length, aperture, ISO, etc., as well as what camera/lens and how much the picture was cropped).

Glad you posted this, NICE job. profiles are tricky for me, but this one looks pretty spot on. Her eye is perfect. Very nice job on the pp as well.Keep posting.

Personally I think you did a great job, I'm not a great fan of profiles either but I am a sucker for negative space. The proportion of neg space is spot on for me.
