Nice comp. This shot has lots of potential. I think it needs some PP for the overexposed highlights, but I love the subject matter:D.

yeah, i've got a couple of versions with more contrast, but it's a nuance i'm looking for of visibility but also a "Skip Away" from childhood, for both girls are now older and have left that world, now a memory only. Somewhere in between perhaps, but the key is tweaking the degree of light outside the tunnel.

Yes, I can see where there can be lots of symbolism there. I love the comp and idea you have. Is there any detail in the highlights on the original? If so, there is no reason why you can't have your cake and eat it too. The other possibility is to go high key with the outside, but still keep the girls as a dominant subject.
