View Full Version : Change to easy customizer?

Every time I think about changing things I get caught up in the custom code I already have in place. I've been thinking about killing all the custom stuff and trying to recreate what I have in the easy customizer.
How difficult would that be?
Would it really make sense to try?I guess what I have been thinking about changing does play a part in the decision, so…
I have thought about changing my logo, or at least the color.
Changing away from the Fresh air theme (probably to a slightly different color blue gradient)
Adding drop downs to split up the portfolio, about, and services area. And maybe adding a blog.

Lots of views, but no reply.
Has anyone tried to convert their custom code to the easy customizer?

Lots of folks tried to use the easy customizer on top of previous customizations when the easy customizer first came out. That's a really bad idea and will cause all sorts of problems.
If you want to totally start over, you could remove all of your current customizations and start over with the easy customizer. If you're going to do that, make sure to email yourself a copy of your customizations first in case you need to go back.
None of the 3 items you mentioned in your first post require throwing out your current customizations.
> Adding dropdowns needs to be done in the advanced site-wide customization.
> Adding a blog has nothing to do with your customizations.
> Changing the theme is the same no matter which version of customization you use.
> creating a separate galleries page requires the same code in both.
> 4-across CSS must be added in the advanced customization CSS in both.
But if your existing code is causing confusion, by all means try to reproduce it using the easy customizer.

Thanks Denise. There are things that are site wide that I though might be easier in the easy cust. area. But your first comment brings up a good question. Using the Easy Cutomizer "on top" of the custom code.
Which is applied first?
But I guess I'll probably just add the new stuff. I'M an old coder and really hate having code that is no longer used and or replace further in a program. But I also know all to well that just because you think it's not used doesn't mean that it really isn't somewhere.
