I like them both but I think I actually like the color and tonal range better on the original. In the adjusted version, my eyes go right to the bright sky. In the original, the kayaker becomes more of the subject for me. the warm tones of the sky and reflections are a little more appealing to me as well.
neat pic!
My two cents:cool

I deffinatley like the second one better as far as the coloring goes. It's a great picture all around, very calming. If you want to go for the darker effect to make it look like a dark night, without making everything look so purple maybe adjust the expsoure down, or play with the curves or contrast.

Nice capture, but my vote is for #2 too. :thumb The first one seems a bit too much.

i love the subject and all, but i find the colours a bit too saturated (if thats the right word, the red and the sudden change to purple in the sky). Is that how the sky was thru your eyes, or its a photo effect? Or is it my monitor?
Personally i prefer the original tone. The adjusted tone maybe can try turn it to sephia. Do you think that will work?
great efforthttp://digitalgrin.com/images/smilies/clap.gif

Nice capture, but my vote is for #2 too. :thumb The first one seems a bit too much. I agree that #2 is better. On my monitor, there is not much contrast between the kayaker and the water in #1, so it takes a bit of time to find the subject. On #2, the contrast is better, so the subject is more prominent. But hey, I would have been delighted to have shot #1 myself :thumb

Thnxs everyone for taking a look and commenting. I didn't play around with the saturation at all,I just moved the slider on the temp in CS Raw. The original shot was unchanged sans a minor USm adjustment 50,2,0. I have already printed it and am very happy with it...

Wow, great job. I like the first framing, the kayaker's in a stronger position, IMHO.
