Journal style problem

I am not getting the description option in my journal style page for my photos like it used to. Any ideas?

I'm unsure what you mean by "description option". If you're talking about the journal view that would have alternating images on the left/right with captions of text next to them, then that is the "journal (old)" style, not the journal style you have currently selected. Go to gallery settings and pick the other "journal (old)" style to get that.

The journal style I have now used to have where I could put comments below the pictures. If you look at older photos in the journal you wee see write ups under each one. It just has now options for that now.

It just has now options for that now. It seems to be gone from my journal (new) style galleries too. You can go to Tools/Many Photos/Caption-Keyword and add the captions there.

Yes, just tried again. I was definitely logged in.

I also removed my (CSS) customizations with firefox web dev to see if that was the problem. Still no edit caption.

I have no ability to edit the caption in place in the new Journal style. That's three of us now all reporting the same thing.

Don't know if it helps any, but I can't see the edit on my site while signed in on Firefox 3.6 or on IE8.

Andy, I'd love to know what the difference is between viewing our sites on your computer where the edit button is available and on ours where it is not.

I'll chime in here too. Can't edit/add comments when in Journal. Have to switch to other style, make edits and then switch back to journal.

That works just fine for me in Safari (for both, journal and journal (old) style). Which browser are you in?
Did you clear your browser cache?

I get the same results using firefox, chrome, and safari as well.:dunno

I refreshed the browser with each attempt.

I DO see the edit link for the caption.

But, the issue is not caused by my CSS because when I remove all my CSS from my normal linked page, the edit link is still not there.

When I examine the page in Firebug, the "Edit" link is simply not in the generated page. This sure looks like it has to be some sort of issue with the Smugmug javascript that generates the Journal page. It just isn't generating the edit link.

Bump. What happened with this issue? Did it get fixed? Did it get entered as a bug?

Follow Up: I spoke with the programmer that deals with this and he is aware of the issue. Hopefully he can figure it out soon. I am not sure what Andy was seeing. Must have been old age. :D
