I just uploaded some photos from today, not expecting much. I got a bit, this is storm light, around 6:30 or 7 PM.

I thought this was a green heron or a night heron, then I was sure it was a night heron, but the markings don't match quite right in my ID book. And the juveniles are supposed to be the same as the adults.

I rushed this out, very little post.......in case someone is still up and about, smile.
The small photo is cropped from the large one.

I actually like the 2nd shot best, and believe it's a Heron, not sure what brand, though :dunno

Looks like a yellow-crowned night heron.
Thanks, Harry. I might have to stop shooting til you are back, at least back for the ID.

Yellow crowned isn't even in my carolinas bird book, wonder what he is doing here.

Thanks a lot. I am glad that I saw one. Actually, he was far away, the horizontal is full frame, and he was quite ordinary looking. It was after I took about 20 pictures of him that I got suspicious that he might actually BE something. I went back and took a few more.

It was a slow night, watched the storm over Charleston, then sat in the car and chimped while it stormed on us.

Thanks for the bird ID, I will get the puppies and kitties all worked up for when you log on next! :thumb
