Hey you'll,

This will be the last thread I start for awhile as I'm going ot have some minor surgery tomorrow (hernia) and the Doc says I have to rest for two weeks. http://dgrin.com/images/smilies/uhoh2.gif
Hopefully I'll be back much sooner than that but if I'm gone I don't expect to come back and find "orphan" threads in this forum.

Anyhow I had some time this morning before my x-ray appointment so I decided to get some shooting in. I drove down to the wetlands to see what I could find.

I ran into our resident night heron
http://behret.smugmug.com/photos/30542267-L.jpg

This hawk was on a nearby tree. he doesn't look pleased that the dragonfly was sharing the frame with him

http://behret.smugmug.com/photos/30542268-L.jpg

This guy was staring at me intently. He seemed to be thinking "fat, almost 60, smokes hmmm. It may be a vulture's thanksgiving today"

http://behret.smugmug.com/photos/30542272-L.jpg

this Green Heron was hanging out

http://behret.smugmug.com/photos/30542270-L.jpg

I had to stop by the egret's gathering place to say good-by
http://behret.smugmug.com/photos/30542275-L.jpg

http://behret.smugmug.com/photos/30542266-L.jpg

as I was leaving this feller was nice enough to land nearby and pose for a bit

Good Lord, and he was good to you. It looks like a fireworks display! Big OOOOOOOOOOOOhhhhhhhhhs and AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHs, up to the big blast of the Egret gathering place, then a few extras.

Great Shooting, Harry!

Now, good luck with the surgery!

And after the surgery, well, "rest" is relative.............. no going out and shooting gorgeous fireworks birds, but a little PC, well after a bit, ..........
Those orphans could be cleaned out in no time.:D And with a few painkillers, needed or not, well, I am sure many orphans could be done with no pain..........?

Really good shooting, Harry! Were all those really taken this AM? I mean, you could just go out and call up fantastic shot after fantastic shot????

The shots are brilliant but the story with this one is really funny:rofl . Change 60 to 39 and I'm there.

Good luck with the surgery

I'm very hopeful about attending dgrin 11 and looking forward to having a beer with you.

It was pretty rough for 4 or 5 days after the surgery (I hate Vicodin!!!)

In a week I was hobbling around (enough to get to the computer) and by the end of the next week all was pretty much well.

Best wishes for an even speedier recovery than I had!

Love the vulture (?) and the egret refelctions especially.

Good luck on your surgery. I had a double hernia a few years ago. Kinda hard to get up the first couple of days, but if you force yourself to do what the docs order for loosening it up, you'll be happy. It's amazing how much energy it takes too recover from surgery - so don't overdo it!

ginger:thumbThanks Ginger. Yep, all those shots were done this morning. It was one of those perfect mornings where there was a photo op every time you stopped. I had to cut it short because I needed to get those last x-rays done. That was a shame because the ospreys had just started arriving and hunting. :cry

Hi Sid,

Glad you liked the shots. I had an earlier hernia surgery back in 2001 and the doc said two weeks recovery. I said "Ha! I'll be on my feet in a few days!". The doc was right. I'm a tad wiser now.

I didn't have as much time this AM due to my need to get the x-rays done. I had to leave just as the ospreys were coming in to start their daily hunt. I get you a few ospreys in a couple of weeks. Until then here's a link for you

http://behret.smugmug.com/gallery/424321

I would send you the lens but I like you too much. It weighs 7+ pounds. How did you think I got the hernia in the first place? http://dgrin.com/images/smilies/lol3.gif

Thanks for the kind comments and the good wishes. The surgery went off great and I'm feeling a lot better than I thought I would.

Actually I don't lug that much equipment on my person. Most of my locations are accessible by car and everything is in the car and I only tote the camera body, lens and tripod.
