Have any of you homemade any of your flash accessories?

Hi everyone :) nice to meet you all, I'm Taylor.

We just got our speedlight in the mail (hooray!), and a friend of mine highly suggested the HONL accessories to play with. I've been checking them out online, and while they look incredibly cool they also seem incredibly expensive (for what they are). It looks like I could make most of them myself with velcro, gels, and the correct fabrics from my local craft store (besides the grids, obviously), and I was wondering if anyone else has made their own flash accessories and had good luck? Any tutorials, or tips? I am brand new to all this, so whatever you have to share about fun flash accessories, please share.

Snoots, barndoors....... flash diffusers from kleenex and filters galore.....if you have the knack for crafts then you shuld be able to make a lot of flash accessories.....it is just easier for me to buy what I need and be done with it....for me the DIY went away as I made money to buy as I stated above.........I wanted my modifiers to look professional not homemade....................

but as we all know GOOGLE can be a great asset

I have and use two Joe Demb units: the Demb Flash Diffuser Pro which I use on my 420EX and 550EX flashes and the FlipIt Junior which I use on my 270EX. I have fabricated several flash diffusers as well as using some commercial units such as the Fong Whale Tail and the Stofen. I have found nothing that is as versatile or that I like as much as the Demb Products.

I have seen fabricated light tents made from cardboard boxes, etc. However, I bought a commercial tent on eBay for less than twenty bucks which folds up like a car windshield shade and which came with background material of four colors. I would not spend the energy fabricating something that cost twenty bucks, especially when the result of that fabrication was not as good as the unit I tried to copy.

I carry a couple of sheets of foam (look in the craft section) to use as a snoot, big bounce, flag .... One white, one black. They weigh next to nothing, take almost no room and with a piece of tape can do wonders in a pinch.

I made myself a flash bouncer similar to the first link in Ziggy's post. Spent about $3 in supplies, and it seems to work well.
