Well after all the dramas, a friend of my brothers finally fixed my Brand New X-Drive that has failed to work ever since I brought it two weeks ago.

We discovered there is a design fault in the later models that does not secure the hard drive inside the casing.

A tiny gap is left between the casing and the end of the Hard Drive, but it is enough to allow the Hard Drive to disconnect from its contact therefore creating trouble for the user, cause it will not let you write once this happens.

To fix it Dieter (my brothers friend) simply pushed it back in, and placed a tiny piece of hard foam between the casing and the end of the Hard Drive so it cannot slide now that it is in place.

The Hard Drive would have slid out of its socket while I was travelling for sure, and imaging that happening while your travelling ???? :cry

So here I am happy as Larry cause my little X-Drive LIVES :clap :clap and now I can shoot till my hearts content :lust for 7 whole weeks :rofl

Good to hear....you a bit excited skip :1drink

I'm almost bouncing off the walls........wait till they hear me on Monday as I begin the Major Countdown to the trip :rofl

Ohhhhhh I know they get a little tired of me telling them every day, all the time, out loud.........but hey someone's gotta tell 'em :clap :clap

I was really concerned about the X-Drive not working, that was causing me lack of sleep worrying if it would be fixed in time.

But now that everythings okay, I'm really happy......my brother is bringing it into work for me tomorrow night so I can give it a few downloads to make sure it's doing what it's suppose to be doing...... Dieter tested it with a Sony Memory Stick and it worked so it should work with CF Cards.

Wow.....this trip seems to be forever in the making, and finally it's almost here, just 6 more sleeps to go and I'm off whoooohoooo :clap :clap

It will take me 6 months to go through them all when I get back :rofl
I've only got one day off when I get back to adjust to the time zone again and get ready to go back to work :D

Then I can flood the forum with photos :rofl

DONE! it's packed :rofl who would think such a simple little error could cause so much stress and drama :dunno I was really getting upset that it wouldn't work, and I knew dang well that I'm not that dumb :crazy because I already have an X-Drive with a much smaller capacity Hard Drive in it.

I shall click away :photo till my hearts content :lust now all I need is for all those critters and bugs to be co-operative :rolleyes take care David....... Skippy (Australia)

Hi Skippy,
So glad it finally worked for you. Here is an idea. Just don't go to sleep for the last three days and then it's only 2 sleeps to go:rofl.

Have a good time,

Actually this will be my first trip to USA where I don't have to rush from the International Airport to the Domestic Airport to catch yet another plane.

I'm staying in Anaheim for a week so my first day is gonna just be a kick back day, get settled in Hotel go find out where everything is, get my Disney Park Hopper Voucher changed to a real ticket, check out the night life and hopefully get some good info from other people who have just been to the parks :D

Only 4 more sleeps to gooooooooooo!!!!!!!!! alllllllrighty :rofl :clap :clap
Take Care Chris......... Skippy (Australia)

No one in their right mind would move away from DisneyWorld, Nasa, and Busch Gardens :rofl heck I'd be living at all three places I tell ya :rofl

The Disney stop over is just to adjust to the time zone change, and to unwind from work, the part I really can't wait to do is MONTANA :clap :clap

I have an X-Drive and it works great.

However, one day I bumped it and it dropped on to the floor.
The hard disk still works.
The card reader works when I plug into my PC.
But, it will no longer copy from the a CF to the hard disk:cry

Do you think you can send your friends brother to Hong Kong to have a look for me?
