I have been shooting with zoomlenses on autofocus since I bought my Canon 350D a couple of years ago. Yeah I know, I should have bought a P&S at the time if I wanted to photograph that way. I always thought my DSLR was acceptable, though a bit soft on the focussing.

Last week I bought a simple Canon 50mm 1.8 lens for under € 100,-. Today I played a bit with it, manualy focussing on my wife's old saxophone for a challenge on another forum.

Bye bye zoomlenses. And bye bye autofocus. Never again...

I'll probably never (completely) give up zoom lenses, just too useful in comparison to having to walk back and forth ... but autofocus I do use sparingly.

Also, nice photo! :)
