I am not sure where to post this but this seems like the right spot.
Does anyone know of really good -and cheap- software for printing contact sheets? I use Adobe Elements but I think it is slow and difficult. I am looking to print either 4 or 5 rows and 4 or 5 columns if that matters.

Free is for me! I don't know about you guys but I am not willing to downloand anything on my computer anymore without knowing that it is safe. It is nice to see HP because I know it is safe. Even that I check that it was HP before I download. There may be better things on the internet but unless someone tells me they are OK I am afraid to download.
I hope it works.

I never said that it was safe, just free!
Look at the current warnings against MSIE, and HP is a big company just like MS. Any product can have security backdoor issues or a website can be spoofed or a download could contain a trojan or other nasty... That being said and for what this is worth, I have this HP product installed on both Mac and PC and I have not noticed any problems. Let the buyer beware and all that!
BTW, the product in question is more for doing "picture packs" than for "contact sheets".

It does both "contact sheets" and "picture packs"...
For a contact sheet, select file/print/proof sheet.

Thanks from me as well. I'm going to download that tonight and give it a try soon. Contact sheets have been a real PITA for me, so far!

OK, FWIW- It would download onto the laptop (HP) but wouldn't run, even in Compatability and Administrator modes.
Had to uninstall.

Related Question (I think):
They can be printed as contact sheets in Elements, but does anybody know of a good way to simply create and Email images as contact sheets to someone? Laptop uses Elements 5.0, if that matters.

I think VuePrint will allow you to print contact like sheets if you are running windows. It is quick file viewer that works very nicely . - http://www.hamrick.com/upg.html

Not sure why the HP product would not work, it installed OK for me on XP. There is a separate version for Vista or Win7 I think?
There is always Irfanview on the PC:

I do create contact sheets in Elements but I cannot get it to create a jpg file. I can use Lightroom but it not easy to do. Plus Lightroom cost $300! I tried HP and it was not easy, I tried Vue and I could not figure it out. (no patience). I see on onling that is Contact creator 2.5 I am going to try that.

*I think I am starting to figut out what I want. What I want is to be able to print the contact sheets to a jpeg file. The reason I want to do this is because I will be able to upload them on smugmug and let anyone print them -and get paid when they do, Yes! Since I own Elements and it does what I want except print to jpeg I think all I need is a "jpeg printer". I looked online and found a few. Now I need to find one that is safe and cheap! Does anyone know of a safe and cheap way to do this?

If you can print to a PDF, you can typically covert it to a JPG using various tools. Another solution might be to simply use Windows Print command. If one selects multiple images in the explorer they can then be printed using the Contact Sheet selection. Depending on your version of Windows, it may or may not have XPS or Microsoft Image Writer installed, these would allow the creation of either an XPS file or an Image file. Once those documents are created there are converters to transform XPS or PDF or other images into JPG or PNG.
These instructions are somewhat simplified as they vary based on OS and the like, but a few screen captures might help. Being that this is all done with installed software (or opensource software) it doesn't get much less expensive.

There are other tools that can help with this as has been outlined, but it might also be worth browsing through SourceForge.net.
