I've had several of these in the house lately. This one was so cooperative that it lived to see another day (Don't like spiders, but put this one in the front yard).

I got a little crabby one day, so I thought I'd share this one with you. I took this one when I was in Tennessee as we don't have these in Nevada.

I always liked this one, I know it is way soft, but I took it on Kodacrome 64 in July of 1992, so this is a scan of a slide, and not a very good one at that. Now I am looking for a chance to reshoot this some day, but I really need a better macro setup. I was used to my bellows on the film cam, but I don't have one for the digital.

Here you can see why I need better macro for the digital.

Don't know if you are aware, but we have a fly thread (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?postid=138517#poststop) going on in the "Other Shots" forum. I thought I'd play here too and show some other bugs.
We are in a plague here and have these guys/gals overrunning some areas.

How about a little grub that just wants to be loved:

And a little jumper that I captured yesterday on my kitchen counter. Look closely through the front feelers and you can see the light reflecting off the fangs.

We also had a short invasion of Striped Sphinx Morning Moths in Northern Nevada. I was never able to get a really good shot, but got lucky to catch one that had landed on some floweres on our back deck.

What a gorgeous shot Steve. I didn't see any of these this year:cry, guess they knew the wife doesn't like moths. I would have loved to have got a few of these. Oh well, there's always next year.

Thanks for the compliment. They were only around for a few weeks in early summer. Looked like "Hummingbirds". I was never able to get a really nice in flight shot, maybe by next year my skills will improve enough to get a nice head or in flight shot.
BTW, All of your "Bug" shots were very nice. :clap

Seeing all these macro's is making me want to get a new lens to better the capabilities that my tele-zoom has. :D The spiders are really creapy!

Regards,
Moths can be really hard to capture, their wings moving like a bumble bees or a hummingbirds and they don't sit still either

Here are a few more of the sphinx moths we had in N Nevada earlier this summer. The shots aren't great (blurry), the little bugger was too quick for my abilities. Kevin.

Hope it's not to late to join in on the bug free for all...here's my meager contribution. This deer fly chased me and my grandaughter to the car then attached himself to my closed window. He didn't let go until i reached 60mph....I still have the welts from his bites! This nasty guy doesn't deserve a better picture.
