I have had a smug mug account for about a year. It was just a fun place to store/share my pictures and now I want to make it a professional site to start a photo business. Way back when I had to use the copy and paste HTML and CCS codes. Easy customizations weren't an option then and I just discovered and started playing with it. Now I have totally screwed up my site and I just want to figure out if I can reset everything and start new. I tried erasing everything from advanced customization and deselected everything in easy customization.

I want a home page that is just nav bar and slide show, a seperate page for galleries and I am just hitting a brick wall trying to figure it out. I have looked at all the "start here" links and I think I am having a problem in that I have already established galleries/categories and I "mixed fluids" by dabbling in the old cut/paste stuff and now tried the new easy customizer
I want to make a nav bar that has "photography" and link it to that category - I have several galleries in that category. I can't find the codes for my categories to replace the XXXX's with when I copy and paste the nav bar instructions. Can I only link to galleries? Using the easy customizer I can link to URL's for the category but can't seem to make it work the other way around....Does this make any sense? Its late and I have been frustrated by this for several days now....

Start with one thing at a time.....Lets start with your header area
(top of your web page)

Do you have a banner that you can make in PS or some kind of image software...a typical dimension would be 750px wide by 150px in length.

What links do you want on your nav-bar?

See if you can follow these tutorials and post back with any questions....you'll typically get a pretty quick answer around here.....

Avanced FAQ (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=52811) (bookmark this one :D)

Banner, nav-bar, slideshow and seperate galleries page (http://dgrin.smugmug.com/gallery/2160039)

Good luck! :thumb

Dont be afraid to ask as many questions as you can, your questions may even help other user's.
