On this thread (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=12438) I showed a Grey Lourie where I had to do some drastic manipulation to get detail in the bird. A lourie posed for me yesterday, so I had to take a few pics :D I used a +1ev adjustment for the exposure here. This pic has had no PP other than a bit of sharpening.

This is the pic I used in the other thread, without the PP. This was taken without exposure adjustment (ie 0ev).

Ok, the tree had a few more leaves in this one, which made the bird darker, but that should have been all the more reason to overexpose for the strong backlight from the sky.

Hey Alan,

The latest shot is much sharper than the earlier shot. If you nail the exposure whe you release the shutter everything later is so much easier. :D

That is so true Harry. BTW, I'll probably start a new thread on this somewhere else but I was also experimenting with RAW+high res jpeg this weekend and I *really* cannot see the difference between the RAW file and the jpeg. I used the jpeg here (PSP9 can't read the newer Canon RAW files :cry).
