You know why? Because you weren't intimidated to walk up to the sax player and stick the camera in his face. "Fly on the wall", no. Your presence there changed the scene - he reacted to you. But his reaction complements the 'fun' activity going on.

And compare your great pic to what the guy in the background got - a far-off side shot at best with absolutely no emotion. He didn't have the nerve. I enjoy the photos of those that do!
