Hi there Kevin! Welcome to Dgrin! You've joined into a good group of helpful and friendly photography enthusiasts.

I'll give some comments on your shots because you said critiques are always welcome. I hope you don't find them harsh as I don't want to scare you away. :wink Comments/critiques around here are always meant to help, not hurt.

First one: I like the lighting on this one, nice warm, inviting.

Looks like the camera drooped to the right as it's not level. You could easily fix that in your photo editor. The composition doesn't really grab me though.

Ah, waterfalls - love 'em - big, small, doesn't matter. This is "nice" but could probably be improved a tad. The color balance is cold (blue) and should be corrected. I think you could have gone for a slightly shorter exposure time and not blurred the water quite as much. Composition wise it feels a little cramped on the bottom right. Maybe a wider focal length would have been better or maybe you could have stepped back. It looks like you cropped it so maybe try a different crop.

Very nice - can't think of anything else to do with this one.

Welcome to dgrin!

The Sierra offers a variety of old buildings to poke around. Many are leftovers from the
gold rush era.

Very nice shots. I like the water shot best.

Look forward to seeing more too!

http://docbell.smugmug.com/photos/25724341-S.jpgThanks everyone for the responses/comments, they are appreciated. And Phil, you shouldn't have told a newbie that you love waterfalls, because now you have to see more. The first 2 are of the same falls as above, the first is cropped down and the 2nd is at a different time of day. The third is a different fall.
