After reading topics about using flahses in daylight I started to bring along my 420ex when shooting in the day. I haven't noticed much difference but found these few photos with a really impressive difference.

No flash.

Notice the inside of the front wheel is a bit brighter, also the shadows are not as dark under the car. Guess I'm just new to this but it was interesting to see the actual difference even in very bright direct sunlight.

I'd say I found the day flash usage especially beneficial when shooting
a) people
b) under the patchy light (trees)

In the first case you can put their back to the sun, so they don't have to squint.

In the second - flash will overfill otherwise nasty effects of the azure foliage shades on the faces.

As to the shooting cars (or other non-blinking objects) under direct sunlight - I don't find it particularly useful..

Just my $.0002, MHO, YMMV, etc.

I'm one of those lazy people who use the shadow-highlight tool in PS to fix what a fill flash would normaly do.:wxwax
