You dgrinners have a favorite Suahi Restaurant somewhere near SJC? I have some exec's flying in and need a nice dinner.

April: You had said a nice place near SMHQ? (After all, I found a nice one near Joe McNally's place!)

ZThe smuggy place isn't close-close to SJC, but about 20 minutes away.

Smuggy folks love Fuki (http://www.yelp.com/biz/fuki-sushi-palo-alto) in Palo Alto.

If price isn't an issue, try the tasting menu of kaygetsu (http://www.yelp.com/biz/kaygetsu-menlo-park) in Menlo Park.

If you want Japanes "tapas" try, Gochi (http://www.yelp.com/biz/gochi-japanese-fusion-tapas-cupertino) in Santa Clara.

I know that this is a staakhouse, but Alexanders (http://www.yelp.com/biz/alexanders-steakhouse-cupertino) is a Japanese fusion place where you can get Kobe beef along with Hamachi shots.

Do you need more recs? I have more....

I like a few other places, but they're more for the price/quality ratio, mom-pop factor, or hole in the walls where I only hear Japanese and no english.

Other recomendations:

Seto Sushi in Sunnyvale...great traditional japanese. Lots of japanese businessmen frequent this place.

Sushi 85 is more modern and does great rolls.

Blowfish in Santana Row has great modern atmosphere and energy with better then average sushi.

Big thumbs up on Kaygetsu and Gochi as April mentioned. Gee..april I didn't know you were a foodie!

The photo is a little blurry from the Sake, but you got the idea - we went, had a great meal and now I am the guy in the know with the cool California places......
