We had a couple of veteran Dgrinners pop into town over the weekend for a quick birthday trip, which was a very, very welcome excuse to not only get out and enjoy the gorgeous fall weather, but to take out the cameras and brush off some of that equipment that a lot of us don't use often enough. :ivar

Some of you know him as Greenpea. On Saturday we thought of him as the guy in the funny shoes:

After a very leisurely brunch in Daly City, we drove out to the Cliff House area to hike around Lands End. We just picked a trail and followed it, admiring the view of the clear blue sky and the waves, soaking up the warm sun and greeting the Golden Gate in the distance.

We took the Mile Rock Trail to hit the cliffs and even though the midday light wasn't great for shooting, it was still a beautiful view.

Here's our lovely birthday girl, Kathy, and Andrew shooting something off in the distance.

How cool would it have been to get a shot of tiny people sitting on one of those huge rocks with the crashing waves exploding around them? They tried, but unfortunately all of us left our Bat Belts and zip lines back in the car:

This time of year, the sun sets quite early. But we weren't going to miss it for the world:

It was off to Marin, where we hopped and blew on our hands in the cold (well, some of us did, who weren't well prepared) and waited for the sun to drop:

As it sank behind the blue horizon, all of us were breathless with wonder. After a long summer of fog and clouds, it was refreshing to see something so beautifully classic.

Kathy runs to catch the sunset:

After the show, April whipped out one of her new photo toys, an Orbis ring flash. And she let me play with it. I've wanted one of these things for years! Sorry about the tilt, but I found it a little hard to hold the thing without dropping it (and the cold, numb fingers might have had a lot to do with it...)

Zweiblumen reminding me of Moby. He's learned to put up with me abusing his retinas:

This dude was just hangin' around, making faces (and Fusion videos :lol3 )

Awesome April, the bringer of Baked Goods!

The happy couple. They really know how to keep it real, wherever they go:

Until next time! It's never, ever a bad day shooting on a beautiful weekend day with friends. :D

Hey Moogle, this is totally unrelated but I was just reminded that I was passing through your neck of the woods (http://www.schmootography.com/gallery/8478263_Wma6R#709051056_Y9hJ3-A-LB) last month while visiting family. :D

The foliage on campus (what I could see passing through town) was just breathtaking. Wish I could stop and shoot!

According to Jeff's definition, my video won't be fusion since all my video capture was done using a point & shoot. But if I can get my stuff together in time, maybe I'll use my video to make something for this http://www.nikonfestival.com/ :wink

Too be honest, I don't think this use of the word fusion is correct since I couldn't find this definition anywhere on urbandictionary or wikipedia :rofl
