The Avocet are back

Langstone Harbour is located between Portsmouth and Hayling Island in south central England. The harbour is sheltered and generally does not suffer from too extreme a climate in the winter. The harbour itself at low tide comprises about 80-90% mud flats which are flooded at high tide. A peninsula of land sticks out into the harbour at the northern end and a few islands lie to the East and South. This area is a conservation area and rich all year round with resident and migratory birds.
Well, that's the pre-amble over with. Lets get onto the Avocet.

At low tide the birds can be seen feeding on the mud flats.

As the tide comes in and the mud flats are flooded, the Avocet fly off to the peninsula of land and roost in the safety of the large lake.
