We've found a honey hole of good sized bucks in our area.
Here are a few shots.

Nice group here, Dave.
I like the second (that's how one usually sees them) and the last best.

Thanks guys.
I've been very lucky this year spotting bucks.
Some years, it isn't so good.

Very nice captures. They take me back to the Hudson River Valley. #5 reminds me of the bucks on the farms over in Chester, NY. I love them.

Outstanding photographs. Bucks 4, 6, & 8 are shooters....in all sense of the word! Great job. :thumb

Thanks again.
Of all of these, I'd say #3 was the largest one I've seen.
When he turned to walk away, his neck near his head was almost as wide as his backside.
I'l post a pic showing this later on.

Here's the shot of the very large buck's neck.
I don't hunt, but I have seen my share of deer.
I don't ever remember seeing a deer with a neck this wide.
The first shot.

Excellent Dave!
That large neck buck is showing signs of the whitetail Rut (breeding season). They are very active during the Rut period hence the reason why you spotted so many during this outing. Pencil the date and weather/solar conditions on your calendar for next year. They will duplicate this activity 2 weeks either side of this year's encounter.

Oh yeah, he's ruttin' for sure. Look at his tarsals....dark spots on his rear legs. My goodness that neck is swollen! :thumb

Dave those are great shots :thumb Whitetail deer are one of my favorite subjects to shoot. They will very often offer unique behavior that can be captured if your lucky enough to be in the right spot at the right time.

The wife and I followed this buck for a while. At some point he met up with the misses.

There were looking at another large but older (grey faced) buck. This younger buck kind of followed and
drove off the older buck. (I got no good shots of the other buck)
When he came back, he'd had enough of us being around. He was stamping his feet, snorting, and tossing
his head around. At this point, I figured it was time to leave.
Note the motion of the front right leg.

The next couple of days, the morning was very frosty. I got a couple of shots, but I think that there's
a better shot to be had.
I'll have to keep trying.:D
If only this could have been a large buck with steam coming out of his nose.

If only he would have given me a little bit of a look.

Oh well, tomorrows another day.
