:wave hi everyone, i've been traveling a bit lately... 2x back and forth to london in the past week :uhoh.... i had the good fortune to meet up with our man gubbs again yesterday. of course, we started off with come some energizing food. mussels, and other delicacies. here are some proofs, i'm not done processing yet but wanted to share a few shots with everyone :D

here's gubbsie looking up at those cows

this is corfe castle, on the south coast of england

http://williams.smugmug.com/photos/28392909-L.jpg

good thing we ate, because there were a zillion steps to climb up to get some sweetlight castle views

after a nice dinner, it was time for bed and then a 350am wakeup call so we could get down to the coast near a place called durdle door, where we saw this at 5am:

and from the opposite side, the arch at durdle door:

10 minutes later the fog rolled in and we were shut-out :uhoh

all in all, a great trip though, good times, good company, and of course, good food :food :lol3

Kinda nice to be able to see all these places and have time to shoot as well. 5am is a tad (6hrs) too early for me so I'll just have to look at your shots instead. I really like the orange sunset shot; just had to get the cow in there too (left side silhouette) I see.

Nice proofs,
Chris

Great series of pictures Andy, and I'd love to see the ones you finish processinig. Awfully lucky that you get to travel so much - twice in 1 month to the UK is just downright making me jealous :cry . Do you travel for business or pleasure?

Cheers,
Kevin K.

Your last one has to be my favorite. The flowers with the castle as backdrop.
The mussels make me long for good old belgian mussels, with good belgian fries. (No fries like in Belgium here in UK... sorry brits!)
Lots of curves in the photo's Andy, the stepping wood in the grass...
You need to come to York one day, you will go photo crazy.
Glad you and Gubbs had a good time.

Thanks for sharing your experiences with us.

Cool stuff andy. I'm especially drawn to the curvy compositions of the Durdle Door shots. The fog was knocking on the door at that point wasn't it. The distance is just dropped into nothingness. Very clear water there. We can see into it in the arch shot. Lots to look at in these. :thumb

Andy, that first stuff you posted, I think that is the best stuff I have seen you do.

Of course, it may just be the cows. I love cows and goats: don't tell Lynne, but if she had put her goats in the challenge it would have been on my list.

And that makes me think: where are the livestock around here....love them. Maybe I will go to Charlotte after all: it is in the middle of the Carolinas, more livestock.

But there are other shots: the simple walkway w the flowers, then the grand shot down to the water.........love them.

I would not have used IR on the cemetery, but then it is the artist's call. And, funny, but the selective DOF does not work for me either: can't stand blur :rofl , in that shot alone, I guess.

Hey, Andy, you are getting good!
