Setting up Multiple Home pages

I have followed the tutorial below for setting up one home page with a banner, navbar, and slideshow and having another point to the galleries but it isn't working for me. When I select the link for the "/galleries" homepage, it remains on the slideshow page. Anyhelp would be appreciated.
