The pie-billed grebe is a small bird averaging 13'' in length. Earlier this year I was able to capture a few images of their chicks.

when very young they ride on their parent's back

I've never seen the ferry ride yet.:cry

The Grebes that I've run across are not overly skittish...nice for a change.

Fantastic set, Harry! I also photographed that family, but I never got to see the chicks rideing on the adult's backs. Great capture....

Thanks Ric. Grebes are funny some are very skitterish and some just ignore you.
