Yes, Yes, Yes, I understand that this is Smugmug and it is all about photography, BUT while I am avid photographer, I am not a professional and have no desire to sell any of my shots.

I am looking for a place to host family photos where all of the extended family can come look and leave comments. I also want to provide links to videos, my kids blogs (I am too old to own a blog) a family forum, etc.

I already have a Smugmug account so I am committed. Just wondering if there are any other "Family" sites here or are they all "Professional Photography" sites?

I have previously used the Web Services at Shutterfly and can do almost everything there that I want, but the Photo Presentation is not that great and I am unable to tweek the UI as much as I would like to using Shutterfly.

I would like to look at a couple of Smugmug sites that are something other than the "here is my portfolio" style if any exist.

Thanks in advance.

I use my site mostly to display my photos as a hobby - not much family stuff (I don't really shoot much of that.) I do have a pro account - I've shot a handful of events and set it up to sell photos, but I'm certainly not a full-time pro, and my site is primarily to show off my photos.

Yes, Yes, Yes, I understand that this is Smugmug and it is all about photography, BUT....Thanks in advance. Well, my site is a combo. It's the only place I have all my family snaps & stuff... and I have a lot 'cause I have a huge family. (Many public galleries, some private). Sometimes my family wants prints, and they're starting to learn to come here to find them... they need reminders. Then I have gazillions of school band & choir shots, etc. However, I also have a bunch of my "show-off" stuff here, under navbar tabs like "Portfolio", "Nature", "Travel", etc. "Music" is a combo, since some are family music photos, some are more "artistic". I'm right now trying to figure out how to handle this diverse site. I wish I had a place to send people where they would only see the pretty stuff. And it would be here, because I feel this site is the best of the best. But I hate to start another site here, and I also hate to make all the family stuff private because I know some people won't figure out how to view it.... the fact that passwords are case-sensitive is a pain.

So-- I'm not sure how this helps you, but you can see the dilemma on my site & realize that there are ALL kinds of sites here. (Yes, I've customized, but that doesn't mean every photo I have made public is wonderful!). As an aside, I also sell stock photography on 8 different sites, photo greeting cards, and other matted/framed works. I do have links here & there on my site, too. I would not say I'm a pro... I just make enough to pay for my habit, haha! My spouse & I do the same with folk music. Links below.

I'm not a pro, just an enthusiastic amateur who loves to take photos and show them off in a great way, hence choosing Smug and having the flexibility to customise as I want. I like my site and what Smug gives me.

I'm not a professional. I have some galleries of friends but mostly galleries of my pets and to illustrate trust training concepts with them. Visual aids. I think I deserve some kind of prize for the most wierd SmugMug concept to date. I have visited many other galleries that are educational in nature as well. Not quite the same as amateur or family, but not in the league of professional photographers either. You're not alone!
