We had the Port Macquarie Half Iron man on again this year. I took the opportunity to try out my panning skills for the first time. Took about 50 shots, most were pretty blurred. I found about 1/20 1/15 1/13 to give the best results.

It's not that easy nailing a clear shot, but managed a few, they are just random people going past.

The bike leg goes past about a street away so went for a walk up and took some photos.

Here are a few of the better shots.

Not sure your method but you shouldn't need to go that slow to get a decent panning shot. Start around 1/125 and work down from there until you get a combo that works--blurred background and a sharp subject. You're right about the practice too :D

Oh right I see, I think I read somewhere to get the slow shots go at about 1/4. But will try a faster shutter next time i'm practicing.
