You've got the potential for some cool lines and cool color. I'd get real low and shoot it long so you get the perspective of the fence. You might also try a shallower depth of field (Wider Aperture) to blur a bit of the background, then drag the shutter up (Faster) to darken the sky. You're onto something here, keep firing!!

I want to like this because the color is just wildly out of place. I think you could get some cool perspective as Steven mentioned, or pull back some so the little purple fence seems more alone in it's environment. In some ways, the tree kinda messed up the scene where you could have the fence against all that straw-colored grass. Hard to say, sorry.

Dragging the shutter (my understanding) generally applies to keeping the shutter open longer than you would want to in order to get some motion blur, and then having the rear-curtain flash hit to freeze the motion. Here, the curtain wouldn't matter, but the net you might want to play with is underexposing the sky a bit and using a flash to illuminate the fence some.

For this, you don't need rear curtain since nothing is moving. The rear curtain is only needed if the object is in motion and you want the motion trails behind the subject. That said, some photogs just leave the flash in rear curtain all the time figuring that for statics its a wash, and for motion you want it, so why not have it on always.

That would accomplish that effect. However, note that the sky won't be the only thing darkened -- all the field in the background will be a bit darker as well. If you have a polarizer, that will darken the sky (and make the color pop a bit) but keep things still more evenly lit. It depends on what net effect you want.

This fence is so totally out of place, but there is a reason. Do you know the reason?

I've seen something like this when I'm out and about. Usually there is a garden or a pet cemetery behind the fence. Never painted such a different/pretty color tho :D

I would re-take it again from a different angle..heck many different angles. I notice there is something painted the same color on the back fence. Or are my eyes playing games with me.

I wonder if this use to surround an old play house long ago :scratch

I kind of like it because of the glaring, unusual color (for a fence) and the fact that it doesn't seem to serve any purpose. It's a fence that partially encloses nothing in particular.

I think I would prefer a perspective that made it a little clearer exactly how much fence there is, and that it doesn't enclose anything. I would not go for an extreme perspective because to me this is interesting for what it is, not for what odd geometry you can make through extreme foreshortening or unusual angles.

I have no idea what purpose the fence serves.

The house next to this fence on the right is the same color.
On the left there is an electrical box of some sort.
Difficult to get left and right angles of the fence.

A play house would make great sense, there appears to be some hay sticking out of one end.

Oh my....there is a house painted the same color too :rofl

Now you really need to go back and get a photo of both together :D
