There are a few reasons most of us shoot (most of our two legged)sports in portrait mode. Not a lot of dead space on the side, and not a lot of cropped limbs.

Other than that, not bad. :D

A little bright, but you got the faces right.:wink

Thanks for the input and thoughts Jim. I usually shoot a mixture of portrait and lanscape. There is a matter of a few seconds between the first shot in this series and the last, so there wasn't much time to change. The young man running the ball runs a sub 5 second 40, and when I see he is running the ball I tend to shoot in lanscape as I like to get faces other than his in the shot. I have quite a few of this same player in portrait mode though.

I shot this with a 70-200 2.8L IS and ended up cropping quite a bit. I ordered a 300 2.8L IS today and am anxious to give it a try at these same type of shots.
