Geography (geotagged images now showing on map)

I'm new and am pretty sure I did things correctly, but here's my problem.

I have some photos that I synced with a GPX track log using GPicSync, but they don't appear in the map, nor do I get the Map This button for them.

The coords are correct when viewing the "Geography" section of some test pictures to verify the info is there. To be safe I even clicked save, thinking the coords needed to be saved again or something, but they still didn't show up on the map. The Map This button does appear after doing that, but when you click it, the map opens to the default location and won't go to the coords for the picture.

A friend, who got me to try SmugMug is also having the same problem, so I wonder if it's a site issue?

Also, I deleted some other test pix from a gallery, and the pins are still showing up on the map, but the images are long gone. When you click the pin, no picture comes up and the map opens where the picture was taken.

I have 10 days left on my demo. I really like the site but want to make sure this is working before becoming a full subscriber.

Specifically:

"Things to know:

Hidden photos, photos in password-protected or unlisted galleries, and photos protected by a site-wide viewing password will not show on maps (due to the terms of use of Google Maps.)
Your site-wide SmugIslands setting in your control panel must be "Yes" for Hello Smuggers, and your Customize Gallery settings should have "Inherit site-wide setting" for Hello Smuggers.
The Edit Geography option in your Customize Gallery settings must be set to "Yes"."

Album is public, all settings are correct. A couple of the photos have finally popped up onto the map, but it seems to be taking a really long time.

This is even happening when uploading a picture to an existing album that is correctly showing on the map.

A friend did some uploading too and said the images didn't appear on the map until this morning.

I uploaded a pic from my iPhone, which usually displays within few seconds on the map but nothing yet. I sent it to a album where all the other pictures are and have been showing correctly for a few days.

Okay, I emailed support and got a very helpful note back saying there's an issue where, if you don't have a caption on a photo, the geocode info may not show. I added some text, and it displayed correctly right away.

I'm hoping it's the answer to my problem in this thread: http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=147708 , which no one seemed to know the answer to. I had an image (un-captioned) that just wouldn't show up on my map, even though it's tagged & shows the "map this" button. Ok, off to check. I hope this works!
