What a difference a tele-conversion lens makes in getting close to the li'l critters - and the big ones, too, I guess. Yeah... I know... it's a rat with a bushy tail, but a cute rat with a bushy tail.

Took this shot on the deck of a friend's cabin this afternoon. I had gotten a few last year, but they look like crap now - quality-wise, compared to this one.

Your squirrel is so cute......we don't have squirrels in Australia, maybe this is one of the reasons I am so taken by Squirrels, Chipmonks, Prairie Dogs, Racoons etc.
I'm so excited about going to America in just a few more weeks and I'll get a chance to hopefully photograph some too.
Thanks for the post......... Skippy (Australia)

I sure hope America doesn't disappoint you - photo-op wise. You have been looking forward to this trip for so long. I hope you get every picture you ever dreamed of.

This was the first time I got this image quality in squirrel shot, so I thought I'd do a more agressive crop than normal to show the eating activity and facial expression.
