I'm always taking pictures of doors and windows. I took quite a few on my recent vacation. We visited a small midieval village in Honfleure, France. It was full of quaint and interesting buildings. I found this window and door in a typical French house.

This building used to be an army barracks. It is now an apartment building with many windows.

This tiny cafe on a small cobbled street shows an example of the many different types of brick and stone used to build in those times.

Do you take pictures of windows and doors too? How about posting them here.

Do you take pictures of windows and doors too? How about posting them here. When first got my camera, I did a doors poster as a way of learning the camera and some parts of Photoshop. Here's the result:
http://rsinmadrid.smugmug.com/photos/12254911-L-3.jpg
All of these doors are within walking distance of my apartment in Madrid. It looks a bit crude to me now, so I guess I must have learned a bit since then. I always meant to do a second version but haven't gotten around to it. Maybe some day...
Here's a window shot that I am fond of:

Cheers.

Wonderful idea, Snappy. I am going to include a link here to an earlier thread about windows and doors that you and Ginger and Wxwax and others will recognize. It may be of interest to some of our newer members also if they enjoy architectural details, esp windows and doors

http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=2319&highlight=roofs I thought of that older thread as I started this. I didn't think of linking it. I'm sure the newer members will enjoy it.
Thanks KC and Richard for joining in. Great colors there KC.
Richard, they sure have lots of great doors in Madrid. And, I love the contrast between the light frilly look of that window and the rough dark square below it.
Here's another doorway from Honfluer.
http://snapapple.smugmug.com/photos/23917178-L.jpg
And another window. I like the way it's all boarded up and the flowers are all dead. Kind of stands to reason.

Great find, Eric. And I like the off center composition. Isn't it great how some places go all out to emphasize their doors?
OK, who's next? Got some more doors or windows?

Well, I have another one. This is a shipping company building on the main canal in Copenhagen, Denmark. It has a look like a drawing, but it is not doctored at all. This is how it looks. They call it the "building with the blue eyes."

Here it is in context. Just as taken with my 350D.

Came accross this interesting door whilst strolling through the town of Beccles, Suffolk, UK. I reckon it must have quite a history attached to it!
Photographed with Sony Cybershot DSC-S85 in 1.3 megapixel mode.
