More Wood Storks from Tuesday

Below a group of wood storks. I read that they stir the fish up with their feet, perhaps that is what they are doing here.

Those are all of the Wood Stork photos from Tues anyway. I also read that they are summer residents in the Carolinas. I hope I can get back up that bridge.........would prefer to be driven, will see.

Excellent shots of a cool bird. How big are they? They look about 4-5 feet tall.

Thanks everyone: ben, gator, lucky dog, Musky Dude and Harry.

It is nice to know that I can get good shots, given the opportunity, away from heavy tree coverage. I was so excited at the first close woodstork flyover that I just yelled, "WOOOOOOODstoooooooooooork", thought I would scare them, but it didn't, too much noise from the cars probably.

You know what scared them. the click of the shutter. they would leave immediately. I could scream anything, wouldn't phase them, but the click of a shutter and a white lens.....................a gone bird.

I must have really hurt myself with some kind of heat stroke or something, though. I was awake more today, but fell asleep when my husband got home, he wanted the computer, and I was on the comfortable couch. That is discouraging. The thought that that walk really is too much for me. We drive over it all the time. I have seen birds, but not like that. I just wanted to get the summer marsh grass colors. Now I know it is a birder's paradise.

It was really nice of the cop to give me water after I got back down and he checked on me. He came back again to see if I was OK, the first nice cop in years. He was an Isle of Palms cop, I started on the Mt Pleasant side and was on that side when he stopped.

Anyway, thanks for stopping and commenting. I really like that people are seeing those woodstork shots.

I read the info re the Wood Storks and the everglades. I hate what man is doing to our environment. The wood storks are making a meager comeback in the Carolinas. But they are only summer residents, that is what I read, so they need the everglades. We all need the everglades............and the rain forests, etc.
