First, why isn't your darn Snowy Egret overexposed, like all of mine are?
Second, great sharpness as usual.
Third, I know how I do RAW now, but I have no idea how your things are supposed to look or how you want them to look......colorwise.
Exposure wise, you were pretty much on to begin with, weren't you?
I have that book camera raw, finally read it to learn to correct for color casts, learned a lot.
I really like your heron shot. Was the light late like that? Sometimes I think that RAW goes a bit far with the light and I pull it back a bit.

Your GBH looks really dramatic. Did you just take that?

Your GBH looks really dramatic. Did you just take that? When are your Egrets blown?? If so EV down some and take a test shot. check your highlights and go from there.
took both these shots around 6pm yesterday. 1st time I've shot Raw.
Can't use camera raw in photoshop no support for D2hs files. So now I'm learning Nikon Capture........Fun stuff though :D
Thanks for commenting G and taking the time to look :thumb

Yeah I set camera to shoot raw & jpeg (fine) same time same shots. Trying to adjust via the book (you know). Still got quite aways to go on that. I feel more comfy still using jpegs in LAB layers :D
But I can see the potential of Nikon Capture :thumb

Ben only the snow egrets blow. At the same time I was taking photos of the Wood Stork, I took photos of Great Egrets, the wood storks, skimmers, whatever, and then I was taking a photo of a flying bird, realized that it was a snowy, I was all excited until I got to the car to look at the photos on the LCD thing. I checked to make sure the Snowy wasn't blown. Every snowy was blown, nothing else was.
The day before at Magnolia I had the EV at -1 for the snowys, and all the BIF were too dark. Not salvageable.
Just frustrating. When I am in the middle of panning, discover it is a snowy, I don't have time to change the setting. But if I kept the setting low, I would miss the shots like the flying wood stork.
?? Oh, well, such is life and experience.
Thanks, I am responding on your thread, so you will see it. That gives you a bump anyway.
For your RAW stuff, I have no idea what you mean about your things not working with PS. Sorry.

Good shots Ben. I can see a definite improvement in the GBH RAW shot. Are you using Nikon Capture?

Yeah Nikon Capture had to upgrade to 4.3 to accept D2Hs files. Seems silly they send me a camera with a disc of software that doesn't support cameras file structure :dunno :huh
Photoshop camera raw still doesn't support camera, that seems just as wierd as they just upgraded to 3.1 with D2x support but not D2Hs. Go figure.
Always appreciate your continued support :thumb
